We have found most inspectors prefer laptops over tablet PCs. Between roofs, ladders and crawl spaces you need your hands free during much of your inspection. As a result many inspectors prefer a laptop over a tablet as a more user friendly tool.
Hardware is constanly changing but as of today 7/9/08 we recommend you reviewing the lenovo convertible tablet which gives you both options a “normal” laptop with the “tablet” option – you will find that it offers the best of both worlds. http://shop.lenovo.com
We recommend at least 2GB of RAM with Microsoft Vista and at least 1GB of RAM with Microsoft XP.

eInspections™ will work on any laptop or tablet PC as long as the machine is running a full version of Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista.

From time to time we will offer helpful tips and ideas in our support blog.

To our inspectors: now is the time to increase the memory (RAM) in your computer. Why you ask? The market conditions of memory have really pushed the street price of memory (RAM) down. Your computer uses memory to actively run programs. When your machine runs low on memory it uses the hard drive to store information instead of memory (it is Windows® way of creating “FAKE RAM”). This drastically reduces the speed of your computer. Most modern memory can access data in about 0.000 000 001 seconds (real quick). A modern hard drive accesses the same information in approximately 0.013 seconds. If you are running short on memory you will definitely be waiting on your computer’s hard drive (a lot). Also; if you have a stock laptop there is a good chance you have an even slower hard drive as most companies such as Dell and HP will sell you machines with slower drives as the standard. This is purely to reduce their price points. In summary; now is the time to grab additional memory and really speed up eInspections™ and your Inspection Support Network™.

Have a Dell Computer? Here is their memory store: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/default.aspx

Have an HP Computer? Here is their memory store: http://hp.com

Want a deal on after market memory? Here is an example: http://crucial.com/
